Social Guardian Training for Teachers.

Helping Hands is a preventative education programme for Children.

Effective Communication Skills for Developing Social Guardians to deliver Helping Hands

Schools can become involved in this innovative programme for teachers, enabling them to deliver the Helping Hands programme within their classroom as well as increasing teachers’ safeguarding abilities for the children within this school.

This programme is funded by the Department of Education and delivered by Women’s Aid groups throughout Northern Ireland.

Each year our training sessions book up fast and are allocated on a first come first served basis.

Criteria for participation

  • An member of teaching staff.
  • Commitment to the 2 day programme through ensuring that the substitute teacher, funded by the Department of Education, is in place on the designated days. (Please note substitute teachers can be claimed from Education Board using your school’s child protection code).
  • Ensure that the participating teachers deliver the Helping Hands programme within two months of the Developing Social Guardians training days.
  • Commit to aiding the review of the programme and assessing its outcomes for all beneficiaries through completing the evaluation information post programme delivery and asking the participating teachers to do the same.
  • Offer my own expertise and assistance to help maximise the success of the programme within the school.
